Maison Martin Margiela AIDS T-shirt
Maison Martin Margiela has produced the AIDS T-shirt in different colors with contrasted text each season since Fall/Winter '93/'94. A percentage of the sales are given to the Association "AIDES" France.
What it says: "There is more action to be done to fight AIDS than to wear this t-shirt but it's a good start."
My friend Stephen was wearing one in white with silver text this weekend, which was my inspiration for today. I had one years ago, but I think it sadly shrunk into oblivion. Here are my two new AIDS t-shirts. One in cream with silver glitter printing and one in grey with silver foil printing. I am not sure of the seasons. Because they are printed when folded in half and the printing spills onto the interior and back of the t-shirt, the text is difficult to decipher when worn---the Margiela mystique.
IF SOHO has several different ones, $70 USD, 94 Grand Street, NYC, t 212 334 4964.
