Mad about collectibles

In celebration of Louis Vuitton's Beijing Store opening, the company is to release these cute little darlings. Don't be fooled by their diminutive size because their prices are a bit high. The epi lockit which are available in the US cost a little over a thousand and the alzer and hat box are about $600. LVoe it!!! Source, click here.

When Art meets Louis

I was bored today at work and decided to do a Google image search and found this interpretation of Murakami's signature multicolore on a man's bust. The caption read: Louis Vuitton David Bust, 2005; found object, gold leaf, acrylic; 28" x 13" x13". I LVoe the idea that the iconic monogram and flowers were superimposed to a clearly classical image. It reminds me of the different interpretations of the Mona Lisa that has populated the art world for centuries. This time, though, Trek Thunder Kelly (the artist) has combined antiquity with Vuitton's contemporary design. For the actual site, click here.

Endless Celebrations...

LVbabydoll from the Purse Forum posted this pic of a wonderful Multicolore Fringed Speedy cake just in time for the celebrations. This week has been full of blessings left and right! One of my friends just bought a loft in downtown Sacramento, the other moved into a loft to start a new life with his partner and lastly another friend just became a new citizen of this great country. Congratz guyz!!! LVoe it!!!

Auspicious Day

Well, this day has proven to be very auspicious for me! I am truly delighted and thank God for all the many blessings that have been showered on me today. Among them, Jeff e-mailing from Uganda, my new Le Mignon, the re-opening of my blog, MJ DVD from France, the new mink (ooopsss) and lastly something that I have been waiting for 8 years now. So, when I found this website (as recommended by a tPFer Barbiedoll) that made a Cerises Speedy cake here in the US, I was in the mood for celebrating. Downside is that they don't ship their cakes. Oh well, here's their website anyways: www.pinkcakebox.com for all you around the Denville, N.J. area.

Don't you just LVoe, LVoe happy endings?!

MOCA Museum Murakami Exhibit

There is a buzz that the upcoming exhibit of Takashi Murakami's work at the Geffen Contemporary at Moca will have an exclusive LV boutique that comes with it. As you well all know, Murakami is a great contributor to the Vuitton aesthetic with his whimsical characters and the introduction of the Multicolore line. Exhibit opens on October 29, 2007. How LVoely is that???!!! Hmmm...I think an trip to California is in order.

LV in the City

I was at lunch today with my friend Rowena (& my Speedy, of course, sitting in his own chair in the foreground of the pic) when low and behold, right next to us was a Denim Vuitton bag sitting pretty on top of a food court table. I recognized it but was not sure of the name. Rowena and I immediately assesed if what she had was the real deal or a fakey. First, I pointed out the vachetta. It was still a bit light but there were stains on it already. Next, the lining was a microfiber that was colored mustard so that seemed appropriate. Then, I noted that the brass fittings and zipper pull had the "Louis Vuitton" engraving. Lastly, the alignment of the pattern was simply exquisite that from the limited view of the bag, I judged that it is indeed an original! I am no expert here as I am still trying to learn a lot from Purse Forum-ers and I know that the heat stamps are essential to make a sound judgement. Sigh...my afternoon at the mall...PS. It did help that she was wearing a Chanel wristwatch and a 2 carat diamond ring...also, the bag is called Monogram Denim Baggy PM $1270.00 at eluxury.com.

Vuitton Pigs

This is very sad on so many levels...

Lifted from adpulp.com :
Pigs tattooed with the logo of French luxury brand Louis Vuitton rest in a farm in the rural area of China's capital Beijing July 14, 2005. The pigs are owned by Belgian artist Wim Delvoye, who has a staff of local farmers and tattoo artists raising sows to use them as canvases for skin art.

According to Time, Delvoye's controversial art seems perfectly aligned with Europe's current indigestion over what it ingests. He was born in rural Flanders where there are more pigs than people, and he says he has always felt a pull to the "agrarian tradition" in Flemish art.

Walking the streets of Manhattan

Born out of my current LVOE of Vuitton items, I was keenly aware of what people were carrying as I walked the streets of Manhattan. Of course, the perennial Speedy Monogram Canvas was everywhere. I only saw one Speedy damier azur so you're still good, Arjay. My favorite is this messenger bag this Japanese guy was sporting. I must admit, I was a little embarrassed because I hounded him down to take a quick pic so that I can show you guys. Here are my best shots. They are kinda blurry but I believe it looks like from the Mini Lin family. Best match is the Saumur. Check out the link from eluxury.

Cakes for Fun

My birthday had just passed, but since June hasn't ended yet, I thought I might post this fabulous cake from the UK. So here's a Happy Birthday to me LV style!!!

Takashi Murakami Panda

I lifted this pic from a website: (http://www.thecityreview.com/f05phcon1.html) and thought that it's so cute. Too bad that this Asian inspired design was executed before I even got interested in Vuitton.

The most fun work in the auction is Lot 16, "Panda," by Takashi Murakami (b. 1963). It is made of fiberglass with an antique Louis Vuitton trunk and wooden pedestal, it measures 100 1/2 by 65 by 43 inches. It was executed in 2003. It has an estimate of $350,000 to $450,000. It sold for $385,600.

Vuitton USB Flash Drive

Designed by Fred de Garilhe for the technologically savvy who wants to add a bit of luxury, this USB flash drive comes with 40 gigabytes and is structurally made with either white or yellow gold. Covered in rich exotic leathers of ostrich or alligator, additional diamonds and sapphires could be added if a little bling is desired. Some of them also comes with an analog or digital clock and as an added security feature, a lock and key is built into the design to keep all your secrets. I guess I need to get one of these since Arjay sends me tons of pics.
