Think Mink

images: barneys.com

If you are bothering to consider a new Winter scarf, why not go all the way and Think Mink? These Lanvin beauties are certainly a step up from mundane wool. Backed with luxurious knit silk, they are petal soft. A timeless indulgence. Grey or Beige $3360 USD.

Available at Barneys NY here.

Monday Outfit

The weather has suddenly shifted to Fall, even before Labor Day. I wore a Lanvin navy blazer, Martin Margiela grey cotton button down, Uniqlo dark skinny jeans, Dries Van Noten black belt, J.M. Weston black shoes and Hermès dark brown bag.

The Martin Margiela shirt is part of the REPLICA collection: from time to time, the Maison reproduces vintage garments to exacting detail. This tab collared shirt is based on an English shirt from 1961.

Fall 2009 Lanvin Men at Barneys NY.

A preview of the latest delivery of Fall/Winter 2009 Lanvin Men at Barneys NY. I am in love with the steel grey lightweight wool cardigan with grosgrain trim. The double raw deconstructed edges leave a new and less precious impression from Lanvin.

Thursday Outfit

The weather was willing and I had The Met Event to attend, so I wore my new Lanvin jacket, white cotton button down J. Crew shirt, Uniqlo skinny jeas, Black Paul Smith brogues and a black Hermès belt.

Lanvin Has Landed.

Well, I am happy to report that my tailor did a fabulous job nipping in the waist and shortening the sleeves of my Lanvin jacket. I desperately try to avoid clothing or accessories I deem "trendy". While this jacket has very strong lines and details, I feel that Lucas Ossendrijver is operating outside the limits of "trend" and creating something unique that will survive several seasons. In fact the only thing about this jacket that will truly date, is the extremely short body. But, every once in a while, I simply can't resist a "strong" fashion piece. Remarkably, despite all the details, it is incredibly lightweight. It feels as if you are wearing a windbreaker. Albeit one with peaked lapels, grosgrain trim, real horn buttons, gorgeous pin-striped wool fabric, ruched seams and a gossamer lining. I think the rain has finally subsided and I can wear this gem today.

Lanvin coming soon . . .

Well, I must confess that I went back to Barneys NY today to see if anything remained after my thorough scouring of the sale rack. I was surprised that the weekend hadn't depleted everything. I can't believe I found this amazing runway piece from Lanvin Spring/Summer 2009. It is my first Lanvin purchase and I will show you as soon as it is back from its little nip and tuck. Stay tuned.

Don't have that kind of money lying around? Forever21 has a similar necklace, although it doesn't have the adorable ribbon tie like the Lanvin version. It comes in both black (pictured) and cream. Again, this is just an inspired by find so it's definitely not exact, but it will give you the Lanvin look for only $12.80. Click the photo below to purchase.

*Update - 7/22/09* If you are still looking for a Lanvin inspired look, Banana Republic also has a necklace that might work. It's now on sale for $50 and you can click on the photo below to purchase.

Don't have $995 laying around? These platforms by Steve Madden may work as an alternative, saving you quite a bit of cash in the meantime! They retail for $99.95 and also come in gold. They do vary from the Lanvin version, however, I feel they are still a great option for less. Click the photo below to purchase.
