These shoes are a testament to the ever growing imagination of Alexander McQueen. Some may see a fetishistic torture device, but I see a dark futuristic beauty that completely transforms our expectations and preconceptions of what a shoe should be. Frighteningly beautiful.

Tomas Maier has created a limited edition Bottega Veneta Cabat inspired by the iconic Yellow Cabs of NYC, called the NYCabat. The black nappa leather has been hand woven and hand brushed to reveal the iconic taxi yellow undertone, which makes each piece totally unique. The sterling silver plate on the interior will be engraved with the edition number and NYC.

“I loved the graphic black and yellow of the taxi cabs when I first visited New York City in the 1970s,” says Creative Director Tomas Maier. “For me, as for many others, the taxi was shorthand for New York: bold, unyielding, exhilarating, a vehicle, quite literally, to so many possibilities. The new Cabat reflects my feeling that, as much as the city and the world have changed, New York remains incredibly vibrant.”

The Duckie Brown Men's show was a bit challenging, pushing a new silhouette of bubble shaped shorts. I didn't care for those, but I did love these looks from the talented team for Spring/Summer 2010. The jersey jacket looks so relaxed and comfortable. I love a belted Safari Jacket and the sheer printed shirt is gorgeous.

It was all attitude and sex at the Spurr Men's Spring/Summer 2010 presentation. Reminiscent of Tom Ford's early years at Gucci and influenced by the photography of Helmut Newton, these sexed up, yet perfectly tailored looks elegantly whispered of early 70s London Playboy. The best part is that Spurr did not get stuck in retro costumes. These looks were totally modern and one of my favorite NY collections. I would wear almost every look on the runway.

While I found the palette oddly dark for the warmer months, I did find some beautiful looks from Rag & Bone's Spring/Summer 2010 Men's show. They have move on from their military inspired looks to create something for sophisticated urban civilians.

I had a hard time choosing my favorite looks from Robert Geller's inspiring NY Spring/Summer 2010 Men's presentation. The proportions, fabrics and palette are fantastic. I love the tone on tone dressing in multiple shades of the same color. Fresh striped pants look smart.

My favorite looks from another talented NYC based designer, Richard Chai. I've seen a lot of sleeveless jackets lately, or is it a long vest? More of the double breasted jacket, which is being carried over from Fall/Winter--this jacket is more shapely, with high armholes and a noticeably shorter length. I love the sheer sweater and I wonder what the fabrication is like.

These are my favorite looks from Phillip Lim's fantastic Spring/Summer 2010 Men's show. I just realized that they are all monochromatic. Great bag and shoes as well.

I have always appreciated Phillip Lim, but somehow I have never managed to add a piece to my wardrobe. The sweater is too heavy, the buttons are too large, the shirt is too schoolboy, blah blah blah. I was rummaging through the sale rack at Barneys Coop when I spied this taupe long sleeve henley. I love the ultra soft cotton jersey, covered buttons, trapunto stitching and the rich hippie vibe. I'll pair it with white jeans and sandals or flip flops for a night out in Provincetown where we will spend a week beginning July 1. Oh, it was about 50% off, which makes looking like a rich hippie a little less expensive.

Suddenly, the Raf Simons man is all grown up. These are not clothes for the privileged 20-somethings that he has spent the past decade dressing. His take on the modern mature man is contemporary luxury at its finest. No longer obsessed with the future, Raf is focused completely on the present. I love the use of belts to draw attention to the waist, I just hope I am brave enough to try the look myself. The leather coats are perfection.

Junya Watanabe's unique interpretation of Western dress is completely his own. He has collaborated with some of the most iconic English and American companies, including Brooks Brothers, Levi's and Mackintosh. What makes Junya's clothes so special is that they are sculpted, rather than cut. His jackets and pants require complicated patterns to create this three-dimensional effect. Shorts wrap around the thigh and contour toward the knee. Jackets nip in at the waist and curve around the hips. I can't think of any other menswear designer that pays so much attention to the male form, while maintaining elegance. There is a sensual quality to his clothes that adds a new dimension to the very Western vocabulary of Jacket and Pants. He is truly Master of the Jacket.

I have generally found Gaultier's mens collection a bit over the top. His gender bending ways and theatrical presentation have kept me away for the most part. You see, my rebellious fashion years in the 1980s and early 1990s are only a faint memory now. I was delighted that this collection was his most wearable in years, incorporating modern shapes and bright colors. The coats are the real standouts here--I especially love the double-faced trench coat and pea coat.

One of the many reasons I love Dries Van Noten is that he is always authentic. By this, I mean that he is true to his vision. This Belgian designer has created images of the world traveler for decades now. He always sources fabrics from incredibly diverse regions. He manages to create an effortless tailoring with these unique and authentic textiles. If he shows tweed, you can be sure it is from an old mill in Scotland. If he shows ikat, it will be from an indigenous weaver in India or Southeast Asia. This is ultimately what I feel authenticity is all about. This collection was full of the signature Dries that I love. These timeless pieces never follow trends and can work as an accent to a man's wardrobe, regardless of his age. Notice the return of the DB (double breasted jacket) in a shorter more modern variation. Modern Authentic Luxury at its best.
