A Spell in the Country

We visited our friends Julian and Walter this weekend in Rhinebeck. They have a beautiful rustic home that made me feel like we were far away in Montana, not just a couple of hours from NYC. I took my Hermès HAC in Barenia. Doesn't it look at home in the country?

Provincetown Whale Watching

We went Whale Watching for the first time on this visit to Provincetown and it is transformative. You get so close to the the magnificent Humpback Whales and they are so at peace with their world, it puts everything into perspective. These giant mammals weigh 40-50 tons and get to between 40 and 50 feet long. Many of them have been in the area for years. I think we saw a dozen in total. I'm not a great photographer, but here is a sample of what we witnessed. I encourage anyone visiting the area to go.

Provincetown Breakwater

Constructed in 1911, Provincetown's Breakwater protects the harbor and the outermost tip of The Cape, but it also has become a favorite pastime for visitors and residents to walk the solid rock path to the beach. It is a bit of an adventure hopping from rock to rock, but it was worth it for the views.

More views

The sun has been shining non-stop for the past two days and it has made our vacation here very special. I took this shot from the garden as the clouds rolled in for just a second at sunset while we were having cheese and wine.

Room With A View: Land's End Inn

We chose our Provincetown inn primarily because they have "dog friendly" rooms for Castor & Pollux, but we also like it because it is located at the top of a hill and has amazing views. The owner Michael is a very gracious host.

Marc Jacobs is not getting married.

We arrived in Provincetown (Ptown) this afternoon and we strolled in for dinner. Afterward, we walked to get ice cream and couldn't resist a pop into Marc by Marc Jacobs.

There are so many internet rumors that Marc is marrying Lorenzo this Summer in Provincetown, Massachusetts. I am sure these rumors are partly fueled by the fact that Gay Marriage is legal in this state and Marc Jacobs' business partner Robert Duffy owns a lovely home here. Well, I guess it is not happening this weekend!

I love the croc embossed portfolios and wallets. Very nice quality for under 200 USD.

For once, Eric was the one shopping. He bought the Khaki Green Hoodie for himself.

Runway to Reality #2

O
This look is inspired by a runway look by Bottega Veneta for S/S '09 covered earlier here. My thoughts are that most of us already have items in our closet that meet our needs with only a few additions to keep them up to date.

I managed to work my J. Crew Lightweight Gingham Shirt from this season into a birthday party outfit for St. Barth. I'm also wearing my favorite Uniqlo White Slim Straight Jeans (from last Summer). I completed my look with my Hermes Orange Belt in Togo Calfskin with hammered "H" buckle in Palladium and my Hermes Izmir Sandals in Chocolate Huile Gratte Calfskin (both from last year).
