bank breaker vs. bargain
ive been getting a lot of compliments on my sergio rossi peep toe pumps lately, so i was ecstatic when i found an identical pair by steve madden for a fraction of the price! what a bargain! you dont have to break the bank to get this sophisticated, sleek look afterall.

one of my favorite childhood memories was going to granville island with my mom. not only did we pick up fresh fruits and baguettes from the farmers market, but we fed the ducks as we sat on the dock by the water. things were much simpler then. what i would give to go back to those days, oh well...this will have to do for now.

power pants
ive been in search of black, high waisted, wide leg trousers for quite some time now. its been extremely hard because i'm allergic to wool and a lot of amazing trousers are made out of wool or cashmere. imagine how ecstatic i was when i found these beauties at mango...on sale! they were $25 and had everything i was looking for in a pair of trousers-pockets, cuffs, structure and a nice weight. i love the timeless cut and structured lines of these trousers and find it extremely empowering to wear. ive nicknamed them my power pants. i also love how versatile they can be. they can be dressed up or worn casual with a silk neutral blouse and some tan wedges for spring.

a fresh start
in hnm, sergio rossi, vintage
every year we are able to learn from our past mistakes and have the opportunity to start fresh. out with the old and in with the new, i am welcoming the new year with open arms. i have an inkling that 2011 is going to be an amazingly fabulous year. i dont really have any specific resolutions, but i do have a few words of wisdom and inspiration that i want to live by this year.
"dance like no one is watching, love like you've never been hurt, sing like no one is listening and live like it's heaven on earth"
"find something you love to do and you'll never have to work a day in your life"
"some people dream of success...while others wake up and work hard at it"
"do what you love and the money will follow"
and of course, pictures of the sparkly new years dress. i hope everyone had a great time ringing in the new year!
