Jil Sander Astrakhan Scarf

images: barneys.com
Though the weather is deliciously mild this week, I'm sure a cold blast is right around the corner, so I'm looking at scarves. These Jil Sander Astrakhan scarves in Black and Silver are so decadent and tempting. What a fabulous way to glam up a basic winter coat. $845 USD.
Available at Barneys NY here.
Leonello Borghi Fox Fur Hobo

Get ready men. Exclusively for Barneys NY, this Men's Fox Fur Hobo with metallic snake handles and strap from Leonello Borghi is completely over the top. What a way to tote your belongings as you saunter up Madison Avenue to window shop.
Quite large at 20" x 14" x 6" you could even pack for a weekend in Reykjavic. $2670 USD.
Available at Barneys NY here.
Boots Boots Boots
Fall is approaching and I want a new pair of black boots. I want something that will look gentlemanly enough for my blazers and long coats, yet tough enough to wear with my new Lewis Leathers Perfecto. If I can't find the right pair, I'm sure there is something in my closet that will suffice, but where's the fun in that?
The Prada boots ooze elegance and probably are the least trendy. Nice, but are they special?
The Buttero style seem the most practical and are priced reasonably, but seem to lack some sort of glamour, or is it just the "fashion label" that is missing?
The Wolverine 1000 Mile boots have just arrived at Leffot and they are gorgeous. But, they have a "working man" aesthetic that I am not totally sure I can pull off. The 1000 mile boots are inspired by a 125 year old style by the time honored American company and are being reintroduced this Fall 2009. You know I love a story.
The Jil Sander model may be a bit too severe. These will have to be tried on. Will skinny jeans even fit over those?
Alexander McQueen might be perfect or may just look too much like combat boots.
Another trip to Barneys NY and Leffot is in order.
Any votes?
Easy Come, Easy Go.
in Barneys, Men's RTW, Prada, Sales, Spring/Summer 2009
Well, it was a fleeting romance and my heart now belongs to another. I am fortunate enough to be able to return this Prada leather jacket that I purchased at 70% off for a full refund (not a store credit). Barneys NY has a very generous return policy, of which, I rarely take advantage. Tomorrow, I promise to show you what stole my heart. Afterall, you can't have it all.
Prada Fall/Winter 2009 lug soled brogue

I saw these in Barneys NY and I can't get them out of my head. I love the lug sole and the extra long detachable nylon tongue. What was actually shipped was matte and a deep red-burgundy shade, perhaps a touch brighter than what was shown on the runway. I'm thinking they would bring a little tough edge to some of my outfits. I wonder how many colors they come in? Any opinions?
Lanvin coming soon . . .
Well, I must confess that I went back to Barneys NY today to see if anything remained after my thorough scouring of the sale rack. I was surprised that the weekend hadn't depleted everything. I can't believe I found this amazing runway piece from Lanvin Spring/Summer 2009. It is my first Lanvin purchase and I will show you as soon as it is back from its little nip and tuck. Stay tuned.
A little sale shopping at Barneys NY
in Barneys, Dries Van Noten, Prada, Sales
I got THE CALL. Barneys NY has now marked down the Designer Mens by 70%! I just couldn't resist an instant scooter trip uptown to see if anything worthwhile remained. After trying on a seemingly endless supply of designer duds, I left with these two fabulous finds.
The Dries Van Noten White Cotton Voile Camp Shirt was something I had spied very early on in the season. I appreciate the "Safari Jacket" details on the back and the sheer cotton voile is very sexy and comfortable in the Summer months.
The Prada Nappa Biker Jacket was a fortunate accident. I usually wear a 48 in Prada, so I didn't even think to try this on, as it is a 46, but it fit like it was custom made for me! I normally don't buy Olive Green, but I found the color neutral and subdued and thought it would work well with my predominantly Navy and Grey wardrobe. Olive is a neutral isn't it? The Nappa has a luxurious texture with a subtle sheen. I love the button details at the back.
The best sale shoppers always think ahead to the next season and this Prada jacket is really a Fall weight jacket and will be my first purchase for Fall/Winter '09!
The best part: The Dries Van Noten shirt was originally $310 and was only $94. The Prada jacket was originally $2795 and was only $839, proving that Luxury need not be expensive.
