Tuesday Outfit

We were away this weekend, so I couldn't get my act together until today. I debuted my Junya Watanabe reversible jacket on the "hunting" side, Uniqlo+J grey plaid cotton flannel button down shirt, Uniqlo+J grey stretch wool pants, Dries Van Noten black faux crocodile belt, Common Projects black boots, Alexander McQueen burgundy silk chiffon scarf and Bottega Veneta black tote.

These shoes are a testament to the ever growing imagination of Alexander McQueen. Some may see a fetishistic torture device, but I see a dark futuristic beauty that completely transforms our expectations and preconceptions of what a shoe should be. Frighteningly beautiful.

Alexander McQueen Skull Scarf

I bought a lot of basic black this season and I wanted something with a little color to help brighten up my wardrobe. I've always admired the Alexander McQueen Skull Scarf, but I thought that if I wasn't the first to get one, then I didn't want to be the last. Ultimately, I decided that it is a bit of a New Classic and gives an edge to my Fall look. The sheer silk chiffon drapes beautifully and the dark burgundy and black colorway makes it difficult to "read" the skulls, which is fine by me. Better late than never. Thank you Barneys NY.

Fall is approaching and I want a new pair of black boots. I want something that will look gentlemanly enough for my blazers and long coats, yet tough enough to wear with my new Lewis Leathers Perfecto. If I can't find the right pair, I'm sure there is something in my closet that will suffice, but where's the fun in that?

The Prada boots ooze elegance and probably are the least trendy. Nice, but are they special?

The Buttero style seem the most practical and are priced reasonably, but seem to lack some sort of glamour, or is it just the "fashion label" that is missing?

The Wolverine 1000 Mile boots have just arrived at Leffot and they are gorgeous. But, they have a "working man" aesthetic that I am not totally sure I can pull off. The 1000 mile boots are inspired by a 125 year old style by the time honored American company and are being reintroduced this Fall 2009. You know I love a story.

The Jil Sander model may be a bit too severe. These will have to be tried on. Will skinny jeans even fit over those?

Alexander McQueen might be perfect or may just look too much like combat boots.

Another trip to Barneys NY and Leffot is in order.

Any votes?

Monday Outfit

I'm wearing a silver Comme des Garcons Homme Plus nylon/polyurethane blazer, Alexander McQueen grey cotton shirt with grosgrain trim, Uniqlo skinny dark jeans and my taupe Prada loafers and belt. I love the grey grosgrain trim, which shows extremely well with the intentionally short cuffs of the jacket.
