Monday Outfit: Black and Tan
Black and tan is perfect for early Fall transitional weather. I wore my Martin Margiela tan cotton cardigan all Summer with white jeans and I thought it looked great with my American Apparel black cotton v-neck, Uniqlo black skinny jeans, Dries Van Noten black belt and Paul Smith black dip-dyed brogues. Now that it is Fall, I'll be carrying black bags again. Here is my Hermès HAC in Black Fjord with Palladium hardware.
Paul Smith Shoes
I love Paul Smith shoes. I find the quality superb and the styling modern, yet classic enough to not look dated for years. These are the two pairs I picked up at 50% off.
First, the "Starr" brogues are from the Paul Smith Collection line and are very much like my navy shoes covered here. This collection is created by dip dying the upper, which super saturates the leather. Drum drying makes them extremely soft. They feel comfortable upon the first wearing. It is very difficult to capture photos of this supple black leather. This is my third pair from the Starr collection.
Second, the tassel loafers are part of the PS Paul Smith secondary line. I have been searching for a pair of tassel loafers for quite some time and either they have been too traditional or too fashion forward. I found these to be the perfect balance. I adore the color, as it is a neutral brown without the red undertones I tend to despise in browns. Tassel loafers can often seem too formal and I like the slightly waxed finish, which keeps them casual enough to pair with jeans.
Oh, I just couldn't resist the socks.
Paul Smith Suits on Sale
in Paul Smith
I sent these photos of two different Paul Smith suits to my friend Mark to help him choose one so that I could purchase it for him at 50% off. The sale starts tomorrow at 30% off, but I received a special 50% discount card that I can only use once during the first two weeks of the sale, so he had to decide quickly. Sadly, he could not join me in person because he was forced to move away earlier this year.
Paul Smith suits are exquisite, inside and out. The cut, fabrics and linings are impeccable and the opportunity to own one at 50% off is a dream. These two, from the top, are the most fitted styles: Abbey Road and Bayard.
He chose the Bayard and I think he made a great decision. I'll also share my personal purchases with you when I pick them up tomorrow. He will pay for the suit and pick it up when he visits in a few weeks. I miss you Mark.
Return of the DB
in Hermès, Outfits, Paul Smith, Prada, Uniqlo
I have not purchased or even tried on a Double Breasted jacket in nearly 20 years. The Sartorialist seems to be fascinated with them lately and refers to them as "DB". I saw a lightweight wool one in Barneys New York from Prada and the fit was amazing, but it was also extremely expensive and I did not want to invest in a piece that I was afraid was only a passing fancy. When I went to Prada Soho and saw this Pressed Denim version from the Red Line, the price was right and the fit was fantastic. It is cut very short with a very shaped/padded shoulder and high armhole. I like the way it looks with my white Uniqlo jeans, Paul Smith shirt, Hermès pocket square and Prada loafers. I wore this outfit for our shopping expendition to the Avenue Montaigne and the Faubourg Saint-Honoré.
Paul Smith Abstract Union Jack Weekender
in Manbag, Paul Smith, Travel
I like a canvas bag in the Summer. They are lightweight and feel more casual. This is perfect for a weekend getaway to the Hamptons. The irreverent use of the British flag is very Paul Smith Rock Star. This bag is on sale at eluxury.com for only 276 USD.
Monday Outfit #1
It is a beautiful day today, sunny and crisp, the perfect Spring day to launch Mondays with LuxuryObsessed. I spend most Mondays doing research for this blog (i.e. shopping). I've decided to catalogue my Monday Outfits. I never wear one designer from head to toe and I rarely ever wear all designer clothes. Today I am wearing a J. Crew shirt, Uniqlo white jeans, Marc Jacobs vest, Dries Van Noten jacket, Hermès belt, Paul Smith shoes and a Bottega Veneta bag.
