Back In Black

I fell so hard for the Dries Van Noten Fall/Winter 2009 collection that I bought this Black blazer at Barneys NY. Until now, I didn't really have a great black blazer in my wardrobe, so that was my justification. Everyone needs one. I love the white flannel lining under the collar and the architectural roped shoulders. It fit perfectly off the rack with only a minor shortening of the sleeve length. Vaguely severe and totally modern, the razor sharp tailoring suits my attitude this season.

Monday Outfit: Tweed

On this beautiful Fall day, I wore a Dries Van Noten Grey wool tweed blazer, +J Dark Brown cotton stretch button down shirt, Uniqlo dark denim skinny jeans, Dries Van Noten Black faux crocodile belt, JM Weston Black shoes, Hermès Grey/Black cashmere Losange scarf, and a Bottega Veneta Ash Fume soft crocodile tote.

Tuesday Outfit

We were away this weekend, so I couldn't get my act together until today. I debuted my Junya Watanabe reversible jacket on the "hunting" side, Uniqlo+J grey plaid cotton flannel button down shirt, Uniqlo+J grey stretch wool pants, Dries Van Noten black faux crocodile belt, Common Projects black boots, Alexander McQueen burgundy silk chiffon scarf and Bottega Veneta black tote.

Monday Outfit: Shades of Grey

There was no doubt that I would be wearing a few of the +J pieces I acquired since the debut Octoer 1. I am wearing a +J blazer in dark grey stretch wool, +J dark grey button down cotton shirt, Uniqlo black skinny jeans, Pierre Corthay Burgundy Arca shoes, Dries Van Noten Black Moc Croc belt and a Bottega Veneta black bag.

Monday Outfit

I wore a Junya Watanabe grey wool pinstriped vest, Zara black rayon/cotton long sleeved henley, Uniqlo dark denim skinny jeans, Dries Van Noten black belt and JM Weston black shoes.

Monday Outfit: Black and Tan

Black and tan is perfect for early Fall transitional weather. I wore my Martin Margiela tan cotton cardigan all Summer with white jeans and I thought it looked great with my American Apparel black cotton v-neck, Uniqlo black skinny jeans, Dries Van Noten black belt and Paul Smith black dip-dyed brogues. Now that it is Fall, I'll be carrying black bags again. Here is my Hermès HAC in Black Fjord with Palladium hardware.

Tuesday Outfit

On this beautiful sunny day I wore a Dries Van Noten blue silk/cotton blazer, J.Crew plaid cotton button down shirt, Uniqlo straight raw denim jeans, Prada brown belt, Hermès brown wingtips and an Hermès dark brown bag.

Dries Van Noten Honored By FIT: What I Wore

It was an honor to attend the Dries Van Noten luncheon today where he received the 2009 Award for Artistry in Fashion by The Couture Council of The Museum at The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). What I wore: Dries Van Noten blue silk and cotton blazer, DVN blue and white striped cotton button down shirt with matte gold paillettes, DVN black and brown degrade faux crocodile brogues, DVN black leather belt and Prada navy wool pants.

Monday Outfit

The weather has suddenly shifted to Fall, even before Labor Day. I wore a Lanvin navy blazer, Martin Margiela grey cotton button down, Uniqlo dark skinny jeans, Dries Van Noten black belt, J.M. Weston black shoes and Hermès dark brown bag.

The Martin Margiela shirt is part of the REPLICA collection: from time to time, the Maison reproduces vintage garments to exacting detail. This tab collared shirt is based on an English shirt from 1961.

Monday Outfit

I'm afraid my outfits aren't very interesting in this over 90 degree heat. I wore a J. Crew dark blue cotton button down shirt, Uniqlo grey cotton cordlane shorts, Uniqlo silk repp belt, Sperry Topsiders in navy blue and a Bottega Veneta Ash Fume soft crocodile tote.

Monday Outfit

Today is bright and sunny with no threat of rain. I wore my Uniqlo navy linen/cotton short sleeved shirt, Lova khaki cotton shorts, Paul Smith tan brogues, Hermès gold Togo belt with silver Touareg H buckle and Hermès Vache Naturelle bag.

Thursday Outfit

The weather was willing and I had The Met Event to attend, so I wore my new Lanvin jacket, white cotton button down J. Crew shirt, Uniqlo skinny jeas, Black Paul Smith brogues and a black Hermès belt.

Monday Outfit

I decided to wear my new Junya Watanabe grey pinstripe vest, J. Crew cobalt blue gingham button down shirt, Uniqlo dark denim skinny jeans, Paul Smith dark brown tassel loafers, Prada brown belt and a dark brown Hermès bag.

(c. 2009)

Little Lord Fauntleroy by Frances Hodgson Burnett was published in the 1880s and the accompanying illustrations by Reginald B. Birch caused a huge fashion stir among American middle class children of the era, which lasted for decades. The style of dress was loosely based upon the Van Dyke style, which was epitomized in the Gainsborough portrait The Blue Boy. The novel Little Lord Fauntleroy inspired three films in 1921, 1936 and 1980, as well as two TV miniseries in 1976 and 1995.

Junya Watanabe's vest and shorts remind me of this period, while somehow being totally modern. On the runway, the outfit was shown complete with the jacket.

Here I am wearing the vest and shorts. I decided not to wear the entire ensemble and just wore the shorts with a Uniqlo navy blue linen/cotton short sleeve shirt, Gucci peacock blue patent leather loafers, and Prada taupe belt. The pants actually hang better without the belt, so that quickly got tucked into my bag as well.

What comes around goes around.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Thursday Outfit

I'm on a roll documenting my outfits. Yesterday, not realizing how hot it was going to be, I wore a blazer. In any event, I'm wearing a Miu Miu stone colored cotton/polyamide blazer, J. Crew navy blue cotton button down, Uniqlo white jeans, Ted Baker for Tricker's tan brogues, Hermès Etriviere belt in Vache Bridle, and an Hermès silk losange scarf.

Wednesday Outfit

Today, I wore my Comme des Garcons Homme Plus navy blue with white trim blazer, J. Crew lavender and white striped button down shirt, Uniqlo dark skinny jeans, Dries Van Noten silver brogues, Prada taupe belt, Hermès pocket square and Balenciaga Galet Weekender.

Monday Outfit

I'm wearing a silver Comme des Garcons Homme Plus nylon/polyurethane blazer, Alexander McQueen grey cotton shirt with grosgrain trim, Uniqlo skinny dark jeans and my taupe Prada loafers and belt. I love the grey grosgrain trim, which shows extremely well with the intentionally short cuffs of the jacket.

Friday Outfit

This is what I wore on this beautiful Friday. Dries Van Noten navy blue silk/cotton blazer, Phillip Lim navy blue cotton jersey embroidered shirt, Uniqlo white jeans, Prada taupe loafers, Prada taupe belt and my new Balenciaga Galet Weekender.

Marc Jacobs Hoodie

Eric's debut here is in his new Marc Jacobs Hoodie. Oh, he's wearing a new V-neck T-shirt, as well as HIS Uniqlo white jeans and John Varvatos sandals. Doesn't he look sexy?

I told you I would wear it with white jeans

So here I am on the way to dinner in Provincetown in my new Phillip Lim "rich hippie" long sleeve taupe t-shirt and my Uniqlo white jeans. I'm wearing my Hermès sandals, even though Eric did not get them in the photo!
