I'm sorry to say that I had never heard of Lewis Leathers. It turns out that they have been in England since 1892 and have their very own version of the Perfecto. In fact, they have several, dating from as early as 1956. The Cyclone was originally created in 1973 and is their most streamlined update. Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders and Mick Jones of the Clash wore Cyclones from Lewis Leathers.

Derek Harris, the owner of Lewis Leathers since 2003, has been passionate about returning the original look and ultra high quality back to the label. He too had been disappointed in the current fit and was looking to resurrect the brand especially in Japan, where the desire for "authentic" motorcycle jackets was overwhelming.

I emailed the company and Hiroyuki Maeda of Lewis Leathers informed me that a few years ago, under Mr. Harris' direction, they created a special version of these leather jackets exclusively for the Japanese market called "Tight Fit". The Cyclone Tight Fit is the best selling model in the range. I ordered one.

I was concerned about not being able to try it on, but Mr. Maeda assured me that it would be perfect. As fate would have it, we are nearly the same size. If the fit is not perfect, I can always return it, but I wanted to avoid doing so because it is coming from the UK. I feel very confident that Hiroyuki has steered me in the right direction.

I can't believe it is already here! It only took two days to arrive from London and it is all that I imagined that it would be and more. The leather is amazing quality, tough yes, but soft and supple. It will not require the "breaking in" that I was expecting. The skin is as nice, if not nicer than many of the Luxury fashion brands that I have tried. The fit is perfect and I have even come to terms with the logo plaque, now that I have learned about the history and tradition of the company. The sleeves are so slim, I can barely zip the cuffs.

Mission Accomplished.

Modeling pics soon.
